CrewCalcs has no user accounts and does not ask for your name or email to use a calculator. We do collect device and usage data through cookies and analytics, and we serve ads through Google. This policy explains what we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have, including how to opt out of the sale or sharing of your information.

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how ATC Group (“ATC Group,” “CrewCalcs,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use crewcalcs.com and the calculators and other services offered there (the “Service”). It applies to information we collect through the Service and forms part of our Terms of Service.

Notice at collection: the short version

We do not run user accounts and do not ask for your name, email, or payment details to use a calculator. When you visit, we automatically collect device and usage data (identifiers such as IP address and cookie/advertising IDs, internet activity, approximate city/region-level location, and inferences) through cookies and similar technologies. We use this to operate, secure, and improve the Service, to measure traffic, and to serve advertising. We share some of this information with Google for advertising and analytics, which is treated as a “sale” and “sharing” under California law. You can opt out. See Your privacy choices. We do not sell or share the personal information of anyone we know to be under 16. We keep this information only as long as described in Data retention.

2. Information we collect

Because there are no accounts, we collect information automatically from your browser and device rather than from forms you fill out. The table below lists the categories of personal information we collect, using the category names from the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

Category (CCPA)ExamplesSourceSold / shared?
IdentifiersIP address; cookie, device, and advertising identifiers; other online identifiersYour browser/device; cookies and SDKs; server logsYes, for advertising
Internet or other electronic network activityPages and tools viewed, referring/exit pages, clicks, ad impressions and interactions, approximate calculator usageCookies and analytics; server logsYes, for advertising
Geolocation data (approximate)Coarse city- or region-level location inferred from IP address (not precise)Derived from your IP addressNo
InferencesAggregate audience or interest signals derived by our analytics and ad partnersAnalytics and advertising partnersYes, for advertising
Device / technical dataBrowser type, operating system, language, device type, screen sizeYour browser/device; server logsNo

We collect this information from three sources: directly from your browser and device; from our hosting infrastructure’s server and request logs (Google Cloud / Firebase App Hosting, which automatically records your IP address and user agent); and automatically through cookies and similar technologies used by Google Analytics and Google AdSense.

3. What we do not collect

To be clear about what stays out of scope, we do not collect:

  • your name, email address, phone number, or account credentials;
  • financial-account, credit-card, or payment information;
  • Social Security numbers or other government identifiers;
  • biometric information;
  • precise geolocation (location within a radius of about 1,850 feet); or
  • sensitive personal information, which we do not collect or use to infer characteristics.

We will update this Privacy Policy before we launch any feature (such as saved calculators or accounts) that would change what we collect.

4. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • operate, maintain, and secure the Service and its infrastructure;
  • provide the calculators and remember basic display preferences;
  • measure traffic, performance, and how our tools are used, so we can improve them;
  • serve, cap the frequency of, and measure advertising;
  • detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security, and technical issues; and
  • comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.

5. Cookies, analytics & advertising

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential site functions, analytics, and advertising. For a full description and controls, see our Cookie Policy.

5.1 Google Analytics / Firebase

We use Google Analytics (including Google Analytics for Firebase) to understand how the Service is used. It sets cookies (such as _ga and _ga_<id>) and collects online and device identifiers. Google uses your IP address only transiently to derive approximate location and does not log or store it in our reports. You can opt out of Google Analytics across sites with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

5.2 Google AdSense and third-party advertising

We show ads through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites on the internet. Because we have not opted out of third-party ad serving, other third-party vendors or ad networks may also serve ads on the Service.

You can control personalized advertising through these tools:

To understand how Google handles data from sites that use its services, see “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services”, the Google Privacy Policy, and Google’s advertising technologies.

6. How we share information

We share information in these ways:

  • Service providers (processors). We use Google Cloud / Firebase to host and operate the Service. These providers process information on our behalf and under contract.
  • Advertising and analytics partners (third parties). We share identifiers and internet-activity information with Google for advertising and analytics. For personalized advertising, Google acts as a third party rather than merely our service provider.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of CrewCalcs, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers. We may disclose or transfer information in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

We do not share your information with third parties for their own independent direct marketing.

7. Your privacy choices

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

Serving personalized ads involves sharing identifiers with our advertising partners. Under California and several other state laws, this is a “sale” and “sharing” of personal information, and you have the right to opt out. You have two ways to do so:

  • Global Privacy Control (GPC). We recognize and honor the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser or a browser extension sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale and sharing of personal information for the browser you are using, and we will visibly confirm on the page that the signal has been processed. Because we have no accounts, this opt-out is tied to your browser and its cookies; clearing cookies or switching browsers or devices may require you to opt out again.
  • Opt-out tools. You can also limit personalized advertising through the Google and industry opt-out tools and your browser controls listed in Section 5.

We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information in a way that would require a “Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information” link (see Section 8).

8. Sensitive personal information

We do not collect precise geolocation, and we do not collect or use sensitive personal information (as defined by the CCPA and similar laws) to infer characteristics about you. Approximate location derived from your IP address is not “precise geolocation” and is not sensitive personal information. Because of this, the “Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information” right does not apply to the Service.

9. Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, and then delete or de-identify it. Specific periods and criteria:

  • Server and request logs (including IP address): retained for a short operational period (up to approximately 30 days) for security and troubleshooting, unless a longer period is needed to investigate an incident or comply with law.
  • Analytics data: retained according to our configured Google Analytics retention window (up to 14 months), after which user- and event-level data is deleted; Google Analytics cookies expire per their stated lifespans (typically up to about 13 months).
  • Advertising cookies and identifiers: controlled by Google and other ad vendors and retained per the applicable cookie’s lifespan and those vendors’ policies.
  • Aggregated or de-identified data: may be retained indefinitely; we do not attempt to re-identify it.

10. Your California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, the CCPA (as amended by the CPRA) gives you the right to: know and access the personal information we collect, use, and disclose; delete personal information; correct inaccurate personal information; opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; and not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. To exercise these rights, see Section 12; to opt out of sale/sharing, see Section 7.

10.1 Non-discrimination and no financial incentive

All CrewCalcs tools are free and fully functional. Exercising any privacy right, including opting out of ad personalization or sending a GPC signal, will not change the price, availability, or functionality of the Service. We do not offer any financial-incentive program in exchange for personal information.

10.2 “Shine the Light” (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.83)

We do not share your personal information with third parties for those third parties’ own direct-marketing purposes. California residents may request information about such sharing once per year by contacting privacy@crewcalcs.com.

10.3 Nevada residents

Nevada residents have the right under NRS 603A to opt out of the sale of certain covered information. We do not sell covered information as defined by that statute, but you may submit a verified request or question to privacy@crewcalcs.com.

11. Your U.S. state privacy rights

A growing number of states have comprehensive consumer privacy laws, including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Iowa, Delaware, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Tennessee, Minnesota, Maryland, Indiana, Kentucky, Rhode Island, and Arkansas. Depending on your state, you may have the right to: confirm whether we process your personal information and access it; delete it; correct it; obtain a portable copy; opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal information, and certain profiling; and appeal a decision on your request. For simplicity, we extend these core rights to residents of any U.S. state, regardless of whether your state has a law in effect. To exercise them, see Section 12. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or contacting privacy@crewcalcs.com; we will respond to appeals within 60 days.

12. Exercising your rights

You do not need an account to exercise your rights. To make a request to know, access, delete, or correct, email privacy@crewcalcs.com with enough detail for us to understand and respond to your request.

  • Timing. We will acknowledge your request within 10 business days and respond within 45 days (extendable by another 45 days where permitted, with notice).
  • Verification. Because we do not maintain accounts and mostly hold pseudonymous device data, we may need reasonable information to match your request to our records. We may decline a request we cannot reasonably verify, or one that concerns only de-identified data, and will explain why. Opting out of sale/sharing (including by GPC) does not require verification or an account.
  • Authorized agents. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, subject to reasonable proof of authorization.
  • No charge. We do not charge a fee to process a request unless it is manifestly unfounded or excessive, as permitted by law.

13. Children’s privacy

CrewCalcs is a professional tool for adults in the building trades. It is a general-audience service, is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact privacy@crewcalcs.com and we will delete it. We also do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of, or serve targeted advertising to, any user we know to be under 16.

14. Data security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect the information we hold. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

15. International users

The Service is directed to users in the United States, and information is processed in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you are responsible for compliance with local laws, and you understand that your information will be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, for material changes, provide additional notice. We review this policy at least once a year and will update it before we begin any materially new data practice.

17. Contact

For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact privacy@crewcalcs.com. CrewCalcs is a service of ATC Group. We operate exclusively online, so we accept privacy requests by email rather than by mail or a toll-free number.
